Lunchtime Running Group 11/23/2011
Well done to the girls who completed the lunchtime 5K Running course this week. 6 weeks of hard work and dedication paid off when all of the group comepleted their 5K. We ran round the beautiful surroundings of St James Park, across Whitehall and finished at Embankment Gardens. Well done girls. Picture on the main running page. One of the ladies I have been regularly training has recently lost a lot of weight - about 1 and a half stones in 6-8 weeks. She has been following the Sainsbury's diets and has found it really easy. Here is the link http://www.sainsburysdiets.co.uk/ It does not sound faddy like many diets and of course she has been exercising regularly too. Another lady that I train has also lost a similar amount of weight in the same time frame. Rather than following a diet plan this has been done through cutting out rubbish, stopping drinking alcohol, not picking when giving the children their dinner but eating with them and exercising regularly. Well done to both of them on such great results. Many parents give their children dinner, pick through this period of time and then wait for their other half to come home from work and then cook another meal - why? Whilst this may work for some people if you want to lose weight this is making things very difficult for yourself. If you are cooking a meal for your children, chances are high that it will be healthy, balanced and full of brightly coloured vegetables and very low in salt. Why do we find it easy to do this for our children but then when cooking for adults we think we have to cook something elaborate and full of cream, fat and salt? Add all this to eating late at night with wine and you are not going to get good results. Whilst I firmly believe in 'calories in v calories out' regardless of time of day - real life is not that simple. If you leave your dinner until very late in the evening then you are more likely to pick on cheese, bread, posh crisps and wine whilst waiting for dinner. Do yourself a favour, eat early and leave the wine bottle unopened. This will then give you some extra time to exercise. You could go for a run or a swim or do some weights/ dvd if you cannot get out of the house. Other tips to make weight loss easy are:
Both of the women I mentioned at the start achieved their weight loss by making big changes to their attitudes to food and their lifestyles - but it worked and now they are really happy with the results they are seeing. I do small group exercise sessions on a Saturday morning on Peckham Rye. These have been going for while. Participants book onto blocks of approx 6 weeks. There are currently 2 spaces available with a group that started last Saturday. We start at 7.50am and it lasts an hour. We do weights, cardio and mat work. There are 4 ladies in the group at the moment so space for 2 more. If you are interested in this please let me know asap. Cost will be between £41 and £50 for the 5 remaining weeks of the term. The lower cost is if both spaces go and the higher cost if one space goes. Hope this makes sense. If you are interested but have questions please let me know. A great day 11/07/2011
Having a great day today. Started with an action packed high energy Mums, Bums and Tums class. Everyone looked like they were working hard which was brill. Powerpramming at lunchtime was a lovely Autumn warmer. Felt a bit chilly to start with then we soon warmed up and had a good session which just wizzed by! I have a new Intermediate running course starting tonight with about 10 ladies. Really looking forward to it. We will be starting the course with a 5K Run so better go and work out a new route seeing as all the parks will be closed in the evening at this time of year. Hope everyone is having a good day too.
